Fund Raising for the 2010-2011 Season

BKRA Charity Game

Last year BKRA raised $700 for the Juvenile Arthritis Unit at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

Charity Game

Following the game, we received a thank you letter from Dr Duffy at the Hospital. You can read the letter here.

BKRA Tournament Dance

The BKRA Tournament held it's first ever dance in January 2011.

Tournament Dance

Following the dance, the following feedback was received from one of the parents:

"I would like to begin by saying how impressed I was with the dance! It was honestly the best dance I’ve ever seen. I was completely impressed with how the girls of all ages from different teams and cities could all get along so well and have so much fun together. Every girl I saw going in and out of the hall was having such fun and was so excited that they were all universally smiling (to the point of beaming), happy, respectful… I could easily run out of superlatives! I think a lot of credit should go to Jenny from So You Think You Can Dance Canada too, she was wonderful with the girls and was easy to work. I sincerely hope for the girl’s sake that this becomes an annual event (I’m betting you’ll need a bigger hall soon though as word of mouth gets around :))!"

BKRA Cheese & Wine Event

While the girls were enjoying the Tournament Dance, the parents enjoyed a Cheese & Wine Evening in a separate room. After the event, one of the parents wrote the following to Susan Vachon, BKRA Director of Fundraising:

"Susan, I wanted to get back to you sooner to thank you for doing such an amazing job organizing the wine and cheese and especially the dance. My daughter summed it up with " best night ever!" Although this was my first ringette tournament, I have attended many hockey tournaments, and I have never been with to such an energized and welcoming event. Several of the parents from our team, who attended the wine and cheese, said they really felt a sense of pride being part of BRKA. What wonderful feed back!!!"

Cookie Dough

Susan Vachon, BKRA Director of Fundraising, writes:

On behalf of the association, I would like to thank all the girls who participated in our first cookie dough fund raiser. Together they sold 930 cookie tubs valued at $11,784. Hard to believe this was all done by only 29 BK girls! BKRA made a profit of $3,875. We then gave back $1,700 to the girls in gift certificates and iPods.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the experience, now it’s time for them to spend their earnings on themselves and enjoy some just baked cookies straight from the oven! Once again, our association has come together as the team we should be and helped out in raising money that will go into running our Ringette association.
